1) It is one of the largest freshwater lakes in India.
2) It lies between the deltas of river Krishna and Godavari.
3) Atapaka Bird Sanctuary is located in Kolleru lake.
4) The lake is home to thousands of birds during the wintering season like - spot billed pelicans and painted storks.
